Meet Your Hosts: Rachel & Matt
We live nearby with our two dogs, Reggie and Luna. We love being outdoors and exploring new places. In our free time, we enjoy camping, hiking, floating the river, and playing disc golf. We strive to provide a 5-star experience for our guests, and we are so excited to share our love of the Buffalo National River and the Ozark Mountains with you.
Here is our story:
A mental health therapist from Houston, Rachel first visited the Buffalo National River in 2017. She fell in love with the area and dreamed of living there someday. She came back to visit every year, and she finally moved to Arkansas in April 2020. A couple of months later, Rachel went on a local zipline tour, where she met Matt. Matt, a former high school math teacher, grew up in the Ozark Mountains near Oark. There was an instant connection, and shortly afterwards, they bought a camper van together. Rachel and Matt lived in their van for six months, traveling all over the Ozark National Forest and Upper Buffalo Wilderness Area. They eventually purchased a home and got married. In October 2021, Rachel and Matt were able to make another one of their dreams come true, by becoming vacation rental hosts!
Meet The Owners: Greg & Brenda
Our properties are owned by Rachel’s parents, Brenda and Greg, who live in the Houston area. Nature-lovers and railroad enthusiasts, they decided to invest in a property near the Buffalo National River to have a “home away from home” when visiting Rachel and Matt, as well as to provide a top-notch vacation rental experience for other visitors to the area.
Meet Ranger
We decided to name our vacation rental company “Ranger’s Ozark Mountain Escapes,” after Brenda and Greg’s cat, Ranger. Ranger is the sweetest kitty you will ever meet. He is a very adventurous indoor-only kitty who is a master of escaping! Luckily, he never gets too far, and he spends a lot of time enjoying the outdoors in his “catio” and on his leash (with his parents’ permission, of course)!
